Interior Design Consulting Flashcards

Creative40 Questions and AnswersFreeUpdated Sep 2026

Interior design consulting is the practice of advising clients on how to plan, furnish, and improve interior spaces without necessarily carrying out every task yourself. Consultants work with homeowners, businesses, and property managers to clarify goals, read a space, recommend layouts and materials, and guide decisions through budgets and schedules. This set moves from the professional foundations of the role, through client discovery and space planning, to materials, budgeting, and the proposal and delivery stages that turn ideas into finished rooms.

To study effectively, work through the five groups in order, since each one builds on the vocabulary and reasoning of the one before. Read each question, say the answer aloud in your own words, then compare it with the card. Pay special attention to the reasons behind each principle, because clients rarely ask for a rule; they ask for a room that works for them. Revisit cards you miss, and try sketching a simple floor plan or writing a short client summary as practice. Reviewing in short sessions tends to build retention better than one long cram.
