Clinical Research Operations Flashcards

Healthcare40 Questions and AnswersFreeUpdated Sep 2026

Clinical research operations is the practical side of running studies that test medical products, procedures, and care approaches in people. It covers how a study moves from a protocol on paper to a well-run trial at real sites, including the roles of sponsors, investigators, coordinators, monitors, and data managers, the regulatory and ethical duties that govern their work, and the systems used to keep records accurate and complete. This set moves through five subtopics: foundations, the regulatory and ethical framework, study start-up and site management, participant recruitment and consent, and data management with quality oversight.

To study effectively, start with the basic vocabulary in each group, such as protocol, informed consent, source document, and monitoring visit, and be able to define each term in your own words. Then work through the applied cards, which ask how these pieces fit together in a real study. Answer each question aloud before checking the card, and review the set in spaced sessions rather than all at once.
